Corporate Social Responsibility

Van den Haak TransMission operates at the heart of society. After all, without transport everything comes to a standstill. That is why we gladly contribute to society and fulfil this in various ways within our company.

Main Sponsor of the Red Cross ‘Bloesemtocht’

The showpiece of the Betuwe and an annual spectacle. We are proud to be the main sponsor of the Red Cross ‘Bloesemtocht’(Blossom Hike’).

High-tech warehouse

In January 2014 our new warehouse was put into service. It is equipped with high-tech facilities to limit energy consumption as much as possible:

  • Solatubes in the roof for maximum daylight.
  • Motion detectors control lighting per zone.
  • Solar panels on the roof provide 50% of the energy required.

Conscious waste management
On a daily basis a great many superfluous and/or unusable packing materials are produced. From plastic to cardboard and wood. This waste material is separated at various locations within our company. Usable waste is recycled, wood of broken pallets, for instance, is used to make new ones.

What else do we do? We participate in the energy covenant of the Geldermalsen – Neerijnen cluster. And for the environmentally aware visitor we have installed two chargers for electric cars.

Energy-efficient vehicle fleet

It is commonly known that lorries use a lot of fuel. In order to reduce the fuel consumption of our vehicle fleet we have installed on-board computers with driving style analysis in all our lorries, which helps the driver to drive as economically as possible. In addition, our drivers are frequently trained to drive defensively.

Clean vehicle fleet
We annually invest in our vehicle fleet. We always invest in the cleanest and most efficient engines. At this moment, 100% of our vehicle fleet has been equipped with Euro 5 and Euro 6 engines.

Participation and education

Corporate Social Responsibility involves more than just taking environmental measures. That is why we collaborate with Werkzaak Rivierenland, a regional institution for work and participation. One or two Werkzaak Rivierenland drivers work for us on a daily basis and their staff occasionally work in our warehouse.

We also actively contribute to employment-oriented training as an approved work placement company. We usually have four students attending a Professional practical skills course (BBL) working in our company.
